NOW continues to work for equality:
  • Because worldwide, women and girls have yet to be embraced as equals.
  • Because in this country, work is going on everyday to ensure that access to safe and affordable birth control and abortion is taken away.
  • Because women and girls continue to be beaten in their homes.
  • Because women have yet to earn as much as men in comparable jobs. ·Because girls are in danger of losing Title IX which allows them to grow in strength, confidence and spirit.
  • Because gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered people are persecuted, hurt, discriminated against and even killed.
  • Because women of color continue to be blindsided by compounded oppressions.
  • Because poor women aren't given a chance to support themselves and their kids.
  • Because eating disorders and low self-esteem are being spewed out of television and magazines.
  • Because racism is continued in the name of "white womanhood."
  • Because raising children and caring for elders has yet to be seen as "real" work.
