I call my work with polymer clay Painting In Space because, although it is three dimensional sculpture it is still heavily based on color and design. It is a synthesis of painting and sculpture.

The clay is the color and the structure.

Polymer clay is not a replacement for ceramic, glass or any other sculpting material. It is a medium unto itself with its own set of characteristics and working techniques.

The pieces of art I have made with polymer clay simply could not have been realized with any other material.

The focus of my work is creating large pieces of free standing, self supporting polymer. Some of the solid objects; the spheres or the cubes and tetrahedrons are made of wood covered with polymer, but all of the other shapes; the bowls, plates, tubes, bottle forms, etc. are nothing but polymer clay. Most pieces have a high gloss finish.
